=In the early 1800s, a small group of Spanish settlers led by Francisco Amangual arrived in the area that is now Big Pine, Texas. They were looking for silver, and soon found a small mine. However, the silver was of poor quality and the mine quickly ran out. The settlers decided to move on, but not before giving the area a bad reputation with out the law. Slowly Big Pine grew with a collection of outlaws, n’er do wells, miscreants, robbers, snake oil peddlers, mule skinners and way ward women of low morals and sin, all running from the law.
